Jennifer Brick Murtazashvili

Jennifer Brick Murtazashvili is Director of the Center for Governance and Markets and Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research explores questions of governance, political economy, security, and development with a geographical focus on Central Asia, Afghanistan, and the former Soviet Union. She is currently involved in several comparative projects that involve China and has written several papers on property insecurity in China as well as a new project that compares approaches of the Soviet Union, China, and the United States in building institutions in developing countries. She is particularly interested in the “China Model” and its relevance for global security and development.
