  • Shaping the Pacific World

    A multi-disciplinary analysis of Latin America-China relations.

Our Mission

The China-Latin America Research Initiative (CLARI) is a joint effort of researchers from the United States, China, and Latin America to explore the contemporary and historical forces that shape the Pacific World. It promotes a multi-disciplinary analysis of China-Latin America relations, its history, and implications for future development through joint research initiatives, conferences, and teaching. Launched in 2015, CLARI is a joint effort of the Asian Studies Center, Center for Latin American Studies, and the Director’s Office of the University Center for International Studies at the University of Pittsburgh.
